Summary of position:

The SUNY/Buffalo State Advanced Manufacturing Certificate (AMC) program is seeking a full-time classroom/laboratory trainer associate to present the NIMs (National Institute for Metalworking skills) curriculum

Job Functions/Responsibilities:

·         Prepare program participants to become CNC operators, as per NIMs standards.

·         Provide training for general machinist skills (layout, measurement, planning and safety).

·         Adapt teaching materials and methods to continuously improve student performance. 

·         Maintain shop facility: perform preventative maintenance on mills, lathes, etc., order materials and tooling, and keep shop clean. 

·         Assist in scheduling classes, adjunct instructors, tutors, and planning.

·         Assess and evaluate student performance.

·         Monitor student placement in job-shadowing and internship situations.

·         Assist with student recruitment.

·         Work toward earning NIMs training certificate (if not already held).

Required Qualifications:

·         3 years experience in manufacturing

·         3 years experience in a CNC-intensive environment

·         1 year experience with Master Cam

·         3 or more years classroom/shop training experience

·         NIMs training certification and/or NIMs certifications

·         Familiarity with Solidworks CAD software

Educational Requirements:

·         Bachelors / Master degree and/or CTE teaching certification
